I Kept Sending Mortgage Money—Then a Foreclosure Notice Revealed Where It Had Gone

Posted on October 18, 2026 By admin

The foreclosure notice made no sense. For years, I had sent my mother money toward the mortgage on my parents’ home, sacrificing personal comforts because I believed those payments were keeping them secure. Now the lender’s notice showed that the account had fallen seriously behind. I initially assumed there had been a processing error. But as I compared my transfers with the mortgage records, I realized that sending money and having it reach the lender were two very different things.
