I sensed something was off when my manager asked me to stay late all week to train the person taking over my role. The situation became clearer after a conversation with HR, where I learned that the new hire would be earning significantly more than I had for the same position. When I asked about the difference, I was told it came down to negotiation. Instead of reacting emotionally, I agreed to move forward with the training. My replacement immediately noticed the second list, surprised by how much extra work had been handled outside the formal role. That was when the training truly began.
